Mock Ups

I haven’t posted much on my workshop assignment. I took some photos today of the mock ups I have been making in relation to the piano and pieces from the 5 different composers I have chosen.

As a refresher, I am doing a piece from 5 composers from the

Baroque – Bach

Classical -  Beethoven

Romantic – Chopin

Impressionist – Debussy

20th Century – Gershwin

What I am trying to visually explore with these mock ups is the keyboard/piano instrument and ways that I can show the piece of music and it’s relation to the piano/keyboard.

This was the first mock up. Simply a piece of music wrapped around to create a bangle. I am looking at printing the music onto acetate and then winding it up, so you get that layered effect.

These are two types of bangle mock ups. The first has 52 parts, and the second has 88 parts.

This image is just making marks on the keys. I read a piece of music and mark which key is played. When finished it would show how many times a key was touched.

This design is based more on beats and bars. It is more complex and when translated into a full piece of music it will be very long. I think it looks really nice on.

These are four other mock ups that I am working on.

University Open Day

For those who aren’t aware, tomorrow is the University Open day for the ANU. I will be in the Gold and Silversmithing workshop all day. Everyone is more then welcome to come by and have a look around. The Eleventimestwenty Exhibition is still on display and all pieces are for sale. So if you missed the opening night last night, you can swing by tomorrow.

There will also be other jewellery pieces for sale exclusively on Open Day in our workshop.

We will also be selling raffle tickets for the Annual Gold and Silversmithing Workshop silver ball chains. Each student in the workshop makes two balls each and they are strung together and make really beautiful necklaces.

Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00

Come and show your support and for a sticky beak.

Hi everyone, this is my very first blog – so please bare with me until I am completely familiar with this site. If you want to know what I am on about, please visit the About section and have a quick read. I hope to update this page at least two times a week. With little insights into what I am currently working on in my workshop, with images and thoughts on my works in progress and ideas I may have for possbile future prospects. I would love feedback from one and all.. be it positive or negative. I hope I am able to create an interesting artist blog.
